Ahmedabad municipal commissioner has issued a special circular, according to which, if the percolation well is functional after five years of BU permission, the deposit will have to be returned.

Along with the increase in the population of Ahmedabad city, there has also been a spurt in the construction of houses required for it. For which it is necessary to have functional percolation well to get BU permission for construction. If the percolation well is found to be fully functional even after five years of BU permission, then the deposit taken by the system will be returned, however, to keep the percolation well functional permanently, the amount of the deposit is not made by the owner or occupier for its cleaning, repair or maintenance, will be confiscated.
Cleaning of percolation well is mandatory
According to Ahmedabad Municipal Commissioner, M. Thennarasan a special circular issued on August 14, all the technical staff of the Town Development-Estate Account as well as the staff of the Engineer Department have been warned that according to the provision number-17.2.2 of the Common GDCR-2017, according to the area of the building unit, according to the development permission obtained at the time of construction. Necessary rain water harvesting system along with percolation well has to be made at the site. Prevention of water shortage during the monsoon period, as well as the requirement of water through irrigation and ground water harvesting, so that the necessary source of water is available, cleaning of the percolation well before monsoon, it is very important that it should be fully functional.
Opinion will have to be sent to the Estate-TDO department without fail in seven days.
After the BU permission issue, Zonal Estate-TDO Department has sent a letter to the Water Resources Management Department of Engineer Department regarding the verification of percolation well, the concerned staff will have to visit the place and send the opinion regarding its functioning to the Estate-TDO Department within seven days, which will be presented to the BU from the zonal office. Action will be taken of giving permission.
…then the system will give notice to the owner or occupier
After giving the BU permission, the details of the BU permission including the percolation well will have to be sent to the Water Resources Management Department in letter form from the zonal office and this department will check the construction site from time to time and check whether the necessary percolation wells are fully operational as per the permission. If the percolation well is not found functional, the system will give notice to the owner/occupier and they will have to inform the municipal authorities that the percolation well has been made functional with its photograph.
